HomeBirth

Even in a city built on speed, there’s a different kind of power in slowing down.

In the heart of New York - where sirens echo and elevators hum - you can still choose stillness.

You can choose to birth without fluorescent lights, without strangers walking in and out of the room.

You can choose to labor in your own space, surrounded by the familiar, held by care that knows when to speak and when to stay quiet.

Homebirth in this city is a reclamation. It’s softness in the middle of steel. It’s trust in a place that often asks us to doubt. And it’s proof that even in a city like NYC, your body knows exactly what to do.

Meet Chloe Campbell

My approach to homebirthing

Homebirth isn’t just about location - it’s about liberation.

My approach is grounded, intuitive, and clinically sound. I trust the physiology of birth, and I trust you

I’m not here to manage your labor like a project - I’m here to preserve the integrity of your space, tune into the rhythm of your body, and respond with clarity and calm if things shift.

I keep my caseload small so I can be fully present with each family, and I show up when you need me - not when the paperwork says I should.

I offer real-time support, hands-on guidance, and decision-making that’s collaborative, not top-down.

You won’t find ticking clocks, bright lights, or hourly interventions here. What you will find is quiet confidence, well-worn clinical skill, plant medicine, modern tools, and a deep respect for your body’s process. I come with everything needed for both the ordinary and the unexpected - from birth pools to emergency meds, oxygen to herbal tinctures.

I'm not saying homebirth is an infallible fairytale experience, but what I can affirm is that engaging me as your homebirth midwife means that your journey will be one that feels spacious, supported, ripe with possibility and deeply personal.

Because birth isn’t something you’re “allowed” to do, it’s not a trend or a compromise - it’s a return to what’s always been true: your body knows how to do this.

I’m here to protect the space where that truth can rise and you're free to reign in on an up-level that our ancestors have hailed as a rite of passage for millions of years.

🟒

continuity Of care

From your first prenatal visit to your final postpartum check-in, you’ll be cared for by the same person - me. There’s no rotating staff, no explaining your story over and over. Just one consistent relationship built on trust, respect, and presence.

🟒

familiarity And comfort

Giving birth in your own space can help you feel more relaxed, more in control, and more connected to your body. You can move freely, eat when you want, wear what you want - or choose to wear nothing at all. This is your home and I’ll do everything possible to ensure your pace and rhythm are supported in your home environment.

🟒

personalised Integrative care

Homebirth allows for care that isn’t rushed or routine. Each visit is tailored to you, your body, your baby, and your goals. I integrate clinical skill with herbal knowledge, emotional support, and thoughtful guidance every step of the way. I’m here to answer the hundred questions you have, but I’m also available for that much needed hug, too.

🟒

more autonomy Less intervention

In the homebirth setting, your choices are central. You're supported to labor instinctively and make decisions that feel right for you, without unnecessary interventions or pressure to conform to hospital timelines.

🟒

stronger Partner involvement

Partners aren’t visitors - they’re teammates. At home, there’s space for them to participate fully, rest when needed, and feel grounded in their role. I support them too, so they can better support you.

🟒

a Gentle Unhurried Start for Baby

Homebirth allows for immediate skin-to-skin, delayed cord clamping, and uninterrupted bonding in the minutes and hours after birth. Your baby arrives into a calm environment, greeted by the people who love them most.

FAQ’s

I’m sure you’ve got a million questions…

Choosing to birth at home is a big decision - one that deserves thoughtful, informed intel. This FAQ covers the most common questions I get about what homebirth with me looks like, from how care is structured to what I bring on the day, how I handle emergencies, and how I support you (or your partner) every step of the way. If there's anything else you need to know, just reach out and I'll be happy to get those details to you!

  • I offer both. I see clients in my beautiful Long Island City office on Thursdays and offer home visits on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. My office is a calm, shared healing space intentionally designed to support your nervous system. Mondays and Fridays are left open for rescheduling in case I’m attending a birth.

  • I limit my calendar to 2–3 births per month. This allows me to stay grounded, present, and fully available for each family. It’s the pace that keeps me aligned with the kind of care I believe in - connected, not clinical.

  • Fees vary depending on services. I’m out-of-network but provide superbills for insurance reimbursement, and work with a billing company that can help you request an in-network exception. New York State requires insurance to cover homebirth care, and many marketplace and Medicaid plans do offer coverage.

  • Yes. I’m committed to making homebirth care financially accessible for good candidates. Payment plans and sliding scale options are available depending on your insurance situation and financial need.

  • Prenatal visits are relaxed, detailed, and designed to meet the full spectrum of your needs. We check in on your physical and emotional wellbeing, your baby’s growth, nutrition, put in any lab requests if needed, and work on your overall preparation for labor and postpartum. I don’t follow a strict checklist - I let the conversation unfold so we can address what matters most to you.

  • I primarily serve clients within NYC. I do travel outside of the city when possible, depending on distance and the logistics of on-call availability.

  • Item descriptionI am trained in breech birth and repeat my clinical training every two years to keep my skillset fresh.

I have attended a small handful of carefully considered breech births.

Candidacy is on a case to case basis, and includes careful consideration of your comfort level with my minimal experience, and with the risks involved with the breech birth itself.

  • Should the need for transfer arise in labor due to an urgent clinical concern we would make our way to the closest L&D unit.

My aim is curating a transition to hospital with articulations that are as smooth and coherent as possible.

This involves calling the hospital ahead of time and explaining the entirety of your clinical picture, and why we are coming in, escorting you to the hospital and making sure the staff have all necessary information regarding your pregnancy in order for them to provide comprehensive, informed assessment and care.

If we are worried about how baby is responding to their birth journey, I will remain with you until we know that they are adjusted and once again working collaboratively to make this birth happen.

If we are going in for pain relief, I will stay with you until you are comfortable and ready to sleep.

If you are going in for an induction, I will come along for admission and make sure you are accommodated with a plan you feel comfortable and confident with.

Please note that I do not have hospital privileges so I won’t be able to manage your care as a lead provider, but I can facilitate a transfer that is timely, as well as work closely with the team as to streamline a cohesive handover of care.

I can receive you postpartum and provide the same protocol you would receive as part of my practice if you birthed at home.

As much as I would love to eliminate the need for hospital transfer completely - that is not within my skill set.

But you have my word that I will do everything within my power to balance the scales and increase the odds of you having as positive of an experience as possible.

  • Yes. I provide four postpartum visits: one within 24–48 hours of birth (including newborn screenings), one at 3–4 days, another at 3 weeks, and a final visit at 6 weeks in my office. These visits support your recovery, emotional wellbeing, lactation, and the integration of your birth experience.

  • Your partner plays a vital role in your birth. I don’t replace them - I support them. Whether they’re your husband, wife, co-parent or chosen support person, I guide them to stay grounded, offer effective care, and take breaks when needed. I make sure they feel involved and confident, not overwhelmed or sidelined. The feedback I hear most often: "I felt so included."

  • Every birth I attend includes a trained birth assistant. They arrive closer to the pushing phase, help manage equipment, keep things running smoothly, assist with immediate postpartum care, and help clean up the space. All of my BAs are also doulas and lactation counselors. They know how to step into a birth quietly and efficiently, without disrupting the energy of the room.

  • While most of birth is non-medical, I’m fully prepared for emergencies. I bring postpartum hemorrhage meds, IV fluids, oxygen, and neonatal resuscitation gear, and I keep my clinical skills up to date with regular drills. I also bring a curated selection of plant medicines and homeopathics that I’ve used safely for over 15 years. You may never see these tools - but they’re there if needed.

  • I always recommend hiring a Doula. While I provide clinical care and emotional presence, Doulas are essential for continuous labor support, especially early on. They compliment my work immensely and often come to a birth much earlier then I need to arrive. Having a Doula ensures that your birth partner can rest and remain confident in their role as a support person. Doulas bring expertise, comfort, and encouragement to the entire process. If you’re having your first baby, having a Doula can make a huge difference!

  • Yes. I have two birth pools and all the accessories. All you need is a liner, a hose, and a good stack of towels. Many clients labor in water for comfort, even if they choose to birth on land.

  • Absolutely. I offer free consults to discuss your needs, answer questions, and make sure we’re the right fit. You’re welcome to schedule a meet in person at my LIC office on Thursdays or book in a virtual appointment.

In Their Words:

Kenna

Chloe, there are just no words to say how deeply thankful I am for your amazing care throughout my pregnancy and beyond. When I think back, I do so with such happiness and awe. I am so grateful it was your hands and being who helped me bring Violet into this world. Thank you for your wisdom, knowledge and love. I felt safe every second and supported in being myself. I love being a mom. Thank you for guiding the way. My heart is so full.

If people ask us how the birth was, we rave and reminisce about many things, but at some point we always say that our midwife was ideal. “Chloe is our hero” we say. You will always be the lighthouse that helped us navigate the storm of birth. You were simultaneously a technician that made us feel confident and the subtlest of shamans who made us feel safe. I believe you are in the right place doing the right thing. It’s hard to imagine a better midwife.

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for guiding us calmly, safely and psychedelically through the pregnancy birth and postpartum portal. It was a joy working with you and feeling like all of our concerns and hopes were so deeply heard and so thoughtfully attended to. I remember the first time I watched a video of a birth (on youtube! Newly pregnant). I cried and was terrified. I really couldn’t have imagined the birth experience we had, which made me feel powerful, supported and kind of joyous! I cannot imagine a more positive way to enter parenthood and am beyond grateful for your wisdom care and gentle spirit that made it possible.

Chloe's clinical expertise, knowledge in the realm of herbalism, and practiced wisdom allowed me to experience the transformative, spiritual, and empowering dimensions of childbirth for both of my sons. I'm forever grateful for the dedication she showed to me and my pregnancy as Chloe went above and beyond to answer my every question, to check in on me not just physically but emotionally. Chloe's breadth and depth of expertise in childbirth never ceases to amaze me as she draws from a wealth of historical and scientific bodies of research, her own decade-plus of experience in pregnancy and birth, and her bright spirit that is soothing, assuring, and encouraging all at once. I highly recommend Chloe as one of the best midwives out there without exception.
